Yuval Spiegler

Doctoral Candidate · Organizational Behavior · Harvard Business School

Hi! I'm Yuval, a doctoral candidate in Organizational Behavior at Harvard Business School.

I study workforce formation - the processes that sort people into organizations and shape workforce composition and diversity. My research asks how organizational environments shape who is available and considered for hire and promotion, and how the evaluative processes that determine final selection are shaped by the evaluative outcomes that preceded them.

As a quantitative organizational sociologist, I use large-scale longitudinal proprietery and public data, survival analysis, matching, experiments, and agent-based models to connect individual and organizational decisions to broad patterns in careers and labor markets.

Before Harvard, I completed my MA in Sociology at Tel Aviv University (with Alexandra Kalev), and a BA in Humanities at Bar-Ilan University. Prior to entering academia, I was leading a perfectly sensible life as a software developer. I am a veteran, a father of two wonderful goblins, and a proud nerd :)

I am on the 2026–27 academic job market.
